“I feel like music heals” — Jessica Simpson is reportedly putting herself first following Eric Johnson split

In an article by Entertainment Tonight, American singer and actress Jessica Simpson recently described her separation from husband Eric Johnson as relaxing and healing.

Simpson and Johnson confirmed their separation this year in January. The two also share three children named Birdie (6 years old), Ace (11 years old), and Maxwell (13 years old).

Simpson released her latest EP, Nashville Canyon Pt.1, stating that music has been nothing less than a therapy for her.

“No matter what we go through in life, I feel like music heals. The fact that I'm able to make it is even more healing,” Simpson told the publication.

During her comeback performance in the season 23 of the singing reality show American Idol on May 18, she described her returning to the stage as a part of her overall transformation.

“I feel so in step with my purpose, so aligned in the middle of a lot of stuff. I feel lighter and brighter than I ever have and I can only say that some spiritual realm is protecting me,” Simpson told Entertainment Tonight after the finale of the show exclusively.

Simpson further told the publication that her newfound aura is also a result of following her own gut feelings. The singer mentioned that she has been obedient growing up and will now follow her heart.

“I grew up as a preacher's daughter,” she continued. “I'm obedient, I did what the record label told me to do and I had a job to do. Now, the job that I'm doing is for myself and that's to be vulnerable, raw and do the music that I want to do.”

Simpson is also being linked to the Avengers actor Jeremy Renner. The two were first linked in the year 2010. Simpson also endorsed Renner's new book by promoting it through her Instagram stories on May 6.

“I’m so deeply proud of my dear friend and perspective motivator, @jeremyrenner for releasing his memoir, My Next Breath, with the world. If the vulnerability and truth within his audiobook doesn’t make you cry or inspire you to live your live to the fullest, you are not human!” Simpson wrote on Instagram.

Eric Johnson and Jessica Simpson met for the first time in 2010. The two met through a mutual friend when she invited her to an NFL party at her house.
