70-year-old Robert Francis Kennedy Jr. has been married thrice in his lifetime. He is currently married to Cheryl Hynes for the past 10 years.
New York Magazine correspondent Olivia Nuzzi has allegedly been involved in a romantic relationship with politician Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., also known as RFK Jr. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the magazine put Nuzzi on leave after she reportedly acknowledged her relationship.
She gained recognition during Donald Trump's presidency for her feature writing. Following the July assassination attempt on Trump, he allowed her to examine his injured ear, which she used as the opening for a feature story in New York Magazine.
A spokesperson for Kennedy allegedly denied any physical relationship and claimed that the two individuals in question met only once for an interview which Nuzzi had requested.
Amidst the ongoing fiasco, the politician’s private life came under scrutiny. The book RFK Jr.: Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and the Dark Side of the Dream by Jerry Oppenheimer mentioned that allegedly, he had a disturbing history with women.
He was romantically involved with law student Emily Ruth Black whom he married on April 3, 1982. It is also alleged that while still in school, Kennedy faced issues with drug abuse and was unfaithful to Emily on multiple occasions. The couple eventually divorced after 12 years of marriage and having two children.
According to Oppenheimer, RFK Jr. proposed to his second wife Mary Richardson, also his sister’s friend, in 1993. He married Mary in 1994 while she was already six months pregnant. However, he initiated divorce proceedings in 2010 with Mary and made his relationship with actress Cheryl Hines public.
RFK Jr. and Mary’s tumultuous relationship explored
Tragically, Mary committed suicide in 2012 after an 18-year-long partnership. The couple had four children. As per a report by Politico, in 2007, Kennedy Jr. contacted the police, concerned that Mary might harm herself. According to the police report, a communication misunderstanding between Kennedy and his wife was identified.
Later that year, Kennedy attempted to take her to a hospital for psychiatric care. A witness statement allegedly mentioned that Mary Kennedy appeared disoriented, running into the street, and waving her arms, while RFK Jr. tried to restrain her. Despite this, Mary informed the police she did not want treatment, and Kennedy eventually drove her home.
In 2010, two days before he filed for divorce, Mary allegedly made several 911 calls in one night, and police found her visibly intoxicated. Shortly after the divorce papers were filed, she was arrested for DUI, leading to the suspension of her license.
A few months later, she faced charges of driving under the influence of drugs, though those charges were later dismissed.
Kennedy married actress Cheryl Hines in 2014.
Kennedy had two kids with Emily, Robert “Bobby" Kennedy III and Kathleen "Kick" Kennedy. A few months after his marriage to Mary, the couple welcomed their first son, Conor Kennedy. They had three more children, Kyra Kennedy, Aidan Kennedy, and William "Finn" Kennedy. RFK Jr. is also a stepfather to Cheryl Hines' daughter from a previous relationship.
