Him: Marlon Wayans talks about the film's criticism
Marlon Wayans recently took to Instagram to address the criticism of his recently released film Him. He shared a screenshot of the Rotten Tomatoes page of some of his films, like Scary Movie and White Chicks. Wayans noted that low critical ratings do not mean that it's in line with the audience.
"Just to be clear…I respect critics. Their job is to Critique. I respect their work. It shapes our industry. But an opinion does not always mean it’s everyone’s opinion. Some movies are ahead of the curve."
He added,
"Innovation is not always embraced and art is to be interpreted and it’s subjective. I’ve had a career of making classic movies that weren’t critically recieved and those movies went on to be CLASSICS. So don’t take anyone’s opinion just go see for yourself. Love to all. Him in theaters now."
Him is about a young football player whose career comes to a halt after a trauma. He then agrees to get trained by a veteran quarterback at his field. As the training begins, the young player realizes that there is more to everything than appears.
