Rapper bbno$, in his acceptance speech after winning the TikTok Fan Choice Award at the Juno 2025 Awards on March 30 at Vancouver's Rogers Arena, called out Elon, saying
"Elon Musk is a piece of garbage"
bbno$ won the award after beating well-known musicians like Tate McRae and Shawn Mendes. He expressed his surprise at first and then went on to grab everyone's attention after he referred to the CEO of Tesla and the senior advisor to US President Trump as "a piece of garbage." The audience cheered in response to the speech that bbno$ made.
There is no known beef between the two; bbno$'s speech may be linked to Elon Musk's controversial statements. In recent months, the Tesla CEO and X boss has become a controversial figure in Canada. His remarks about the country have angered many.
His most recent post, in which he said that Canada is "not a real country," led to intense criticism and vandalism of Tesla vehicles and showrooms. According to Hamilton police, more than 80 Teslas were reported damaged in a local lot, with many of them scratched or the tires slashed.
Elon Musk's Clashes with Musicians other than bbno$
Surprisingly, this isn't the first time that Elon Musk has been criticized by a musician. Before bbno$, there were Azealia Banks and Elton John, who had clashes with the X-boss and Tesla CEO.
Following an unsuccessful collaboration with his then-girlfriend singer Grimes, Azealia and the couple had a full-blown clash on social media. Then, in the year 2024, Elton John poked fun at Musk after accepting the Legacy Award at the Attitude Awards in London by asking,
“What does ‘A’ stand for? ‘A**hole’ comes to mind… but let’s not talk about Elon Musk tonight – let’s have a good time!”
Since his X takeover, many artists have criticized him for his controversial takes.
A night to remember at the 2025 JUNO Awards

Even though bbno$'s comments on Musk were the main topic of conversation, there were other noteworthy events during the award show. The show was hosted by Michael Bublé, and he opened by saying,
"We are the greatest nation on Earth and we are not for sale."
As she accepted her lifetime Canadian Award, Anne Murray wore a crimson hockey jersey with sequins that spelled out "Canada." She recalled it as her "safe haven" and "light at the end of the tunnel," recalling moments when she was resisting the temptation to relocate to the United States.
Host Michael Bublé put on a performance along with artists Maestro Fresh Wes and Elisapie, where they ended with a multilingual rendition of "Home." Country singer Josh Ross gave a message of solidarity following his win for the Country Album of the Year,
"I think it’s time to get back to our Canadian roots and remember that friends are better than enemies."
