Elon Musk called President Trump's trade adviser, Peter Navarro, a "moron" after the latter made comments about his car company, Tesla. Musk responded to Ron Paragides' X post, which featured a CNBC interview clip of Navarro, where he can be seen criticising Musk and calling him a "car assembler."

Navarro, while talking about Trump's new tariff policy, spoke about Musk's car company, Tesla, and said, Musk is "not a car manufacturer" but a "car assembler", noting that the electric vehicle company imports batteries instead of manufacturing them. He added,

"That's what he does, and he wants the cheap foreign parts."

While responding to the interview clip, Elon Musk went on to call Navarro a "moron" and said,

"Navarro is truly a moron. What he says here is demonstrably false."

In the same thread, he added,

"Tesla has the most American-made cars. Navarro is dumber than a sack of bricks. By any definition whatsover, Tesla is the most vertically integrated auto manufacturer in America with the highest percentage of US content. Navarro should ask the fake expert he invented, Ron Vara."

"Boys will be Boys" - says Karoline Leavitt about feud between Peter Navarro and Elon Musk

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, while responding to the spat between President Trump's trade advisor Peter Navarro and supporter Elon Musk on April 8 afternoon, commented that the two just have "different views", saying,

"There are obviously two individual who have very different views on trade and on tariffs. Boys will be boys and we will let their public sparring continue. You guys should all be very grateful that we have the most transparent administration in history."

This isn't the first time, Navarro and Musk have locked horns. Earlier, on April 5, Elon Musk had critcized Navarro's education, noting that getting a Masters' and Ph.D's from an Ivy League university like Harvard "is a bad thing, not a good thing."

Navarro responded to the comment during an April 6 interview on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures, noting,

"Look, Elon, when he's in his DOGE lane, he's great. But we understand what's going on here. We just have to understand. Elon sells cars. And he's simply protecting his own interests as any businessperson would do. We are more concerned about Detroit building Cadillacs with American engines and that's what this is all about."

Despite their current tension, Navarro had also added that things were "fine" between him and Musk and that "there's no rift here."

This comes after Trump increased the tariff rate, ranging from 11% to 50% on 57 nations.
