"I don't play with death," says Maya Henry while talking about ex-fiance Liam Payne
Liam Payne's ex-fiancee, Maya Henry, in an appearance on The Internet Is Dead podcast on October 14, two days before the singer's tragic death after a fall from a building in Argentina, revealed that the singer would often predict his death as an attempt to "manipulate her".
Henry dated the former One Direction member from 2018 to 2022 and said,
"He would always message me ever since we broke up (saying), 'Oh, I'm not well.' He would always play with death and be like, 'Well, I'm going to die. I'm not doing well. There was one time I tried to get him help and then he was not taking it. He would text my mom, 'I'm not doing well, have Maya contact me,' because I wouldn't respond. It's just always the same cycle."
In February, Maya announced her fictional book Looking Forward, inspired by the journal entries she had written while dating Liam Payne. In the book, the influencer alleged that the singer would call her mom at the time and say, "I'm not going to be around much longer." While reacting to Payne's mention of death during the span of their relationship, Maya said,
"I don't play with death. If you say this, I'm going to try and help you no matter what you've done. I think he took advantage of my family's kindness."
Henry alleged that one of Liam Payne's friends also warned her not to release the book to protect the singer's mental health. Henry noted that Payne would always apologize and repeat the same cycle to "traumatize" her. Before he left for Argentina, the singer was in between legal issues between himself and Henry, who alleged that the singer wouldn't leave her alone.
