Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande preview Wicked: For Good footage with Dorothy’s debut at CinemaCon

Wicked: For Good will be released theatrically on November 21, 2025. The musical fantasy film was helmed by Jon M. Chu and written by Dana Fox and Winnie Holzman. It will be the sequel to last year's Wicked and will adapt the second act of the namesake stage play.

Here's the official synopsis:

Follows Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. The second of a two-part feature film adaptation of the Broadway musical.

The film's lead actors, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, unveiled its preview footage at ComicCon.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande reveal preview footage for Wicked: For Good

At the recently held 2025 ComicCon, Jon M. Chu, Ariana Grande, and Cynthia Erivo were present. The trio unveiled the first look of the forthcoming musical fantasy, Wicked: For Good. They also referenced Dorothy Gale at the event, with Chu saying,

"This movie takes us past the point where the girl in the blue gingham dress from Kansas drops in."

The trailer, which is not public yet, showcases Elphaba reading the Grimmerie, Meanwhile, Glinda is fixing the crown on her head as she is under the supervision of Madame Morrible and the Wizard. At one point in the footage, Morrible says:

“The Wicked Witch can’t ignore us forever.”

Glinda also warns Elphaba of the foreboding danger. We also see Glinda marrying Fiyero in a big ceremony. A highlight of the trailer was the debut of characters like Dorothy, Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion as they are shown reaching Oz.

The video further showcases that the two girls still hold a bond despite being on two sides of the events.

The source material of Wicked: For Good was based on the 1995 novel Wicked, which reimagined the situation shown in The Wizard of Oz, which came out in 1939. At the event, Grande said:

“It’s been quite a year since we joined you here last time, and we cannot thank you enough for all of your support."

The film is produced by Marc Platt and David Stone under Marc Platt Productions and Universal Pictures. Besides Grande and Erivo, the film also has:
