Actor Ben Affleck seems to have his preferences when it comes to dating. On May 8, 2025, TMZ reached out to him as he was spotted at West Hollywood’s Lavo Ristorante. The reporter congratulated him on his movie.

He then switched to Spanish and asked the Deep Water actor how he felt being Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor. Ben Affleck cracked up and said, “Muy bien,” which translates to

“Very good, very good.”

The reporter then asked in Spanish if he still liked Latinas, and he replied:

“Yes, of course. I do.”

The actor separated from his wife, Jennifer Lopez, in January 2025. The former couple’s relationship stretched across more than two decades. They first crossed paths while shooting Gigli in 2001.

The couple got engaged in 2002. Although their wedding was scheduled for September 2003, it was canceled days before. They called it quits in January 2004. However, in May 2021, the couple reunited and got engaged again in April 2022. They got hitched in Las Vegas in July of that year and had a second celebration in Georgia.

Ben Affleck was also in a relationship with Cuban-Spanish actress Ana de Armas. As per reports, the split between Affleck and Ana de Armas was friendly. They had different life goals and different viewpoints.

They could not resolve their disagreements and chose to end the relationship. She later spoke about the attention they received before they broke up, according to US Magazine.

Ben Affleck spoke about the documentary with Jennifer Lopez

In an interview with GQ Magazine in March 2025, the interviewer brought up a documentary Jennifer Lopez released, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, which focused on their relationship. In the film, Lopez talked about being private yet still having to show parts of their lives as public figures.

Ben Affleck explained that when he chose to be part of the documentary, he wanted to be honest and make it meaningful. He admitted that others, like Lopez, handled fame more smoothly than he did.

While he preferred to keep things private, she was more open, which created a difference in how they approached public life. Despite those differences, he said he loved and supported her and wanted others to see how great she was.

Ben Affleck also compared the situation to marrying a ship captain and then not wanting to sail, saying that one must accept who someone is when they commit to them. He clarified that the documentary didn’t reveal the cause of any breakup, and viewers wouldn’t find answers about their issues just by watching it.

Ben Affleck shared that he hoped he had expressed himself clearly when talking about Jennifer Lopez and the documentary. He said he was okay discussing parts of his personal life as long as his true thoughts and intentions were accurately represented.

He emphasized that he had much respect for her and understood that people might be curious about how they view the balance between private and public life.

He stressed again that he only had respect for her. Ben Affleck added that while people often try to find dramatic reasons behind breakups, the real explanation was likely much more ordinary and not as dramatic as people might think.
