Screen Adaptation of Anxious People starring Angelina Jolie

Anxious People, a New York best-selling novel by Fredrik Backman, is being picked up by the Black Bear and Hope Studios for a screen adaptation that will be directed by Marc Forster and star Angelina Jolie (Maleficent, Salt).
The best-selling novel is described by People Magazine as:
"A quirky, big-hearted novel. Wry, wise, and often laugh-out-loud funny, it's a wholly original story that delivers pure pleasure."
The Swedish author's novel is a story about eight anxious people, and an anxious would-be bank robber who ends up finding themselves in a hostage situation. Even in the most anxious and out of plan situations, the group of strangers manages to find hope through forgiveness and friendship. The movie, set to be an uplifting comedy, is described as:
"About a crime that never took place, a would-be bank robber who disappears into thin air, and eight extremely anxious strangers who find they have more in common than they ever imagined… Through an ingeniously constructed story, Anxious People explores the enduring power of friendship, forgiveness, and hope — the things that save us, even in the most anxious times."
Some of the key players responsible for the massive success of the 2022 movie A Man Called Otto ($110M at the global box office) are set to be a part of this screen adaptation. David Magee, who was the screenwriter for A Man Called Otto and Life of Pi, is set to adapt the best-selling novel for the screen. Additionally, Fredrik Wikstrom Nicastro and Renée Wolfe from A Man Called Otto will also be joining as producers.

Magee, Forster, and Neda Backman are set to join as executive producers for this screen adaptation. Producer Nicastro talked about Backman's novels, saying that:
"Fredrik’s novels speak to our shared humanity in a way that really moves audiences, and we’re proud to be able to deliver another heartwarming and hilarious adaptation of his work."
It will be exciting to witness another heartfelt and unique screen adaptation of a Fredrik Backman novel that has sold over six million copies worldwide.
