The New York Film Critics Online (NYFCO) has officially announced its nominations for 2025. This year's list features multiple returning filmmakers, rising artists, and a few notable international titles.
The results of the New York Film Critics Online (NYFCO) awards will be officially revealed on December 15, 2025. Notably, One Battle After Another leads the nominees list with 11 nominations across directing, acting, writing, and technical categories.
Hamnet, Sentimental Value, and Sinners follow with nine nominations each at the New York Film Critics Online (NYFCO) 2025. Alongside beloved filmmakers such as Paul Thomas Anderson, Park Chan-wook, Ryan Coogler, and Chloé Zhao, the nominations also include multiple debuts and relatively new performers.
The New York Film Critics Online (NYFCO) organization was co-founded in 2000 by Harvey S. Karten and Prairie Miller. The group consists of Internet-based film critics operating out of New York City. They meet annually to select their award winners.
Prairie Miller, Avi Offer, and Karen Benardello, among others, form the governing committee. Noted film critics, including Rex Reed, Armond White, Stephanie Zacharek, and Emanuel Levy, are among past and present members.
Notably, conversations surrounding originality and creative risks related to Artificial Intelligence are also active amid this award season. Recently, Leonardo DiCaprio, who stars in One Battle After Another, stated:
"It could be an enhancement tool for a young filmmaker to do something we have never seen before. I think anything that is going to be authentically thought of as art has to come from the human being. There is no humanity to it."
