Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning shall release in China in the middle of trade tensions ease
Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning is set to make its release in China, on May 30, 2025.
Earlier, in relation to U.S. President Donald Trump's imposition of 145% tariffs on products from China, the China Film Administration had declared to bring down the number of films from the United States to be brought into China.
But soon after, both countries came to a mutual agreement of halting the trade war for 90 days, as declared by U.S. President Trump. The earlier imposed tariff by United States, which was 145%, has been dropped down to 30%. Same goes with China, as it went from 125% to 10%. Hence, this positive decision has proved to be good for Tom Cruise's film, as the process of its release became seamless.
Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning is the last film of this iconic franchise. In this film, we witness Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt out to protect the Entity from the hands of the assassin Gabriel. Along with Cruise, the film stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, Angela Bassett, and many others.
This film is helmed by Christopher McQuarrie, who also pens the script in collaboration with Erik Jendresen. The film is produced by Paramount Pictures, who are also handling its distribution. TC Productions and Skydance also joins in the production of the film.
Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning had its first debut on 5th May, in Tokyo, and then followed by a showcase at the Cannes Film Festival. It has received rave reviews, followed by a round of standing ovations at Cannes. It has garnered a rating of 80% at Rotten Tomatoes, which is relatively lower than the previous four installments of the franchise, which have scored above 90%.
The film is made on a massive budget of $300-$400 million, so it could be profitable for the film to be released in as many regions as possible. The film is already highly anticipated, so the chances of the film to recover its budget shall be high with more releases.
Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning shall make its theatrical release in the United States on 23rd May, 2025.
