Academy award-winning filmmaker Martin Charles Scorsese has recently teased the audience saying that he will possibly work on Marilynne Robinson's novel Home for his next film. His last movie, Killers of The Flower Moon was released in 2023 starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro.
Over the past two years, there has been much speculation around Martin's association with a number of movies. For instance, The Wager starring DiCaprio is still in the pre-production stage and release dates have not been confirmed yet.
Moreover, fans are also expecting more news on Martin's work on Frank Sinatra's biographical film, which is so far being kept under wraps. The 82-year-old director has told in a statement to the Associated Press that he is trying to work out his filming schedule. He will probably squeeze out some space for extending on Pulitzer-winning writer Marilynne Robinson's book.
Will there be a film by Scorsese on Marilynne Robinson's novel Home?
Martin Scorsese has reportedly told the Associated Press:
"There’s a very strong possibility of me doing a film version of Marilynne Robinson’s ‘Home,’ but that’s a scheduling issue."
As per reports, he is also currently working on A Life of Jesus with Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield. But the adaptation of Robinson's book will supposedly be his next big screen piece. Scorsese reportedly wants to revisit his past family life and has said in a statement about the:
"Possibility of me going back and dealing with the stories from my mother and father from the past and how they grew up. Stories about immigrants, which tied into my trip to Sicily."
Thus, he explains that the theme of Home's adaptation can be something more personal and will likely get the shape of a film very soon. Age has not been a constraint for him, as he further added:
"Right now, there’s been a long period after ‘Killers of the Flower Moon.’ Even though I don’t like getting up early, I’d like to shoot a movie right now. Time is going. I’ll be 82. Gotta go."
What do we know about Robinson's novel Home?
The novel Home is a fragment of the classic Gilead series of Marilynne Robinson. The background of the book is set in 1956 in a fictional rural area of Iowa.
The story revolves around a woman who returns to her hometown following her father's sickness. She becomes his sole caregiver when her brother suddenly appears in the picture to make amends on account of their tormenting past.

A novel exploring different angles like love, faith, and death will interestingly follow-up on Scorsese's last film Killers of the Flower Moon, which had a similar rural setting.
Moreover, there is always speculation building up on his other works, like the adaptation of Shusaku Endo's book, The Life of Jesus on which he has reportedly said:
"It’s an option, but I’m still working on it."
