Keanu Reeves attached to star in an Edge of Tomorrow-like film from the Deadpool director

Fans of Keanu Reeves might be waiting for his next appearance as Baba Yaga, aka John Wick, the legendary assassin who might be dead or might not be, given the cliffhanger ending of the fourth film in the franchise. But there's other news coming about the development of a science fiction film where he is attached to star.

According to one exclusive report coming from The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is in final negotiations for a film dubbed Shiver, which is described as having elements from the 2014 hit Edge of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt in the leads. It keeps the time loop at the core, where Cruise's character needs to eliminate an alien invasion.

That is also a theme we saw in the Jake Gyllenhaal-starred Source Code (2011), though there isn't a time loop but a virtual recreation of an event that stretches to around eight minutes.

It is also said to have elements from the Blake Lively starrer survival film The Shallows (2016), where she is stranded in a situation where she must survive a shark attack.

Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool (2016) and Terminator: Dark Fate (2019), is attached to direct Shivers, while Ian Shorr has written the script.

Where will Keanu Reeves appear next?

Keanu Reeves appears to be busy with several projects. Among them are two black comedy films, Outcome and The Entertainment System is Down. None of the films has a release date as of this writing.

He is also likely to be reprising his role of John Constantine in Constantine 2. In February 2025, the actor confirmed that DC has approved their pitch and his titular character is "going to be tortured even more."

For the John Wick franchise, he will, of course, be in the lead as the titular character for the fifth mainline film. There's another animated prequel film, with the actor returning, said to be in development, which will focus on his infamous "Impossible Task," which the main antagonist of the first film described as having "laid the foundation" of their empire.

A fifth Matrix film is also in development, with Drew Goddard attached to direct. However, Keanu Reeves's involvement with the project hasn't been confirmed yet. Also, that will be the first film in the popular franchise without the involvement of the Wachowski sisters.

In which movies did the actor appear this year?

This year, Keanu Reeves appeared in a couple of films and a documentary.

First, it was Wick in Pain, which was released on May 9, 2025, and documented the making of the John Wick franchise. Other than the actor, it also featured Chad Stahelski, Basil Iwanyk, Derek Kolstad, and more in it.

Then he reprised his role of John Wick in the franchise spin-off, Ballerina, which puts Ana de Armas in the lead as Eve Macarro. Other stars, including Ian McShane and Anjelica Huston, also reprised their roles of Winston and the Director, respectively.

Most recently, Keanu Reeves appeared in the comedy film Good Fortune, where he played the angel Gabriel, who lost his wings after helping a struggling man, played by Aziz Ansari.
