Taylor Kitsch, who recently returned to the spotlight with The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, had long been known for keeping his personal life out of headlines. Back in 2013, he admitted he was still healing after a breakup, telling Man of the World magazine,

“I went through a terrible breakup a while ago and [hockey] was the one thing that allowed me to actually not think about it for an hour-and-a-half.”

Despite his Hollywood success, Taylor Kitsch never seemed eager to parade his relationships publicly. As of this writing, the actor is unmarried, and as per a report published by People on January 20, 2025, he has no intention to marry anytime soon either. He told the outlet that he lets his relationships fall 'to the wayside' thanks to the 'nomadic' nature of his job. He said:

"...I keep getting these great, fulfilling jobs. It's like, it does make me happy, and I love what I do. They're very intense roles, so you need to be super myopic doing them, and you got to push your relationships and everything else to the side."

Even though the star is reportedly single right now, over the years, Kitsch had been linked to a handful of women. He was rumored to have dated model Jessica White from early 2006 to early 2007 following a GQ shoot.

Soon after, his chemistry with Friday Night Lights co-star Minka Kelly appeared to move off-screen, with Kitsch later acknowledging they had been romantically involved. In 2008, whispers also connected him to Australian TV host and former Miss Universe contender Laura Csortan, when the two worked together on X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Back in 2015, whispers of a romance between Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch had gained traction. Us Weekly revealed that just a month after the True Detective stars were seen sharing dinner at West Hollywood’s Osteria Mozza, several insiders confirmed the two were dating. “It hasn’t been long, but it’s serious,” one source admitted at the time.

Another friend of McAdams noted their shared roots and years of friendship before things turned romantic: “They grew closer on set.” McAdams herself had spoken candidly with Glamour about the challenges of falling for a co-star.

“No. A set may seem like a good place for romance, but I don’t think it’s very conducive; it’s too distracting, every relationship I’ve had with a coworker has come after the fact, because you wind up actually spending a lot of time with those people promoting the movie,” she shared.

Despite their chemistry, the couple faced an uphill battle. According to Pop Tv Culture, the long-distance nature of their relationship made things difficult, with McAdams rooted in Toronto and Kitsch living in Austin. At one point, Kitsch reportedly suggested she move south, but McAdams hesitated to make such a drastic change. By mid-2016, with her career soaring following the success of Spotlight, the couple parted ways.

When Minka Kelly revisited her time on Friday Night Lights in her memoir Tell Me Everything, she pulled back the curtain on her turbulent relationship with Taylor Kitsch. The actress admitted their romance consumed much of her energy on set.

“All the effort I might have invested in connecting consistently with the girls on the show went to Taylor, so when my relationship with Taylor became toxic, I had no one to turn to,” she wrote, as reported by The Daily Beast.

According to Kelly, the pair’s on-and-off dynamic created constant strain.

“Life became very difficult both on and off set whenever we broke up, on the days we had to work together and were broken up, he didn’t want to be in the hair and makeup trailer at the same time I was… the tension on set was high and everyone felt the awkwardness,” she shared.

Kelly also revealed she often felt isolated, alleging her colleagues gravitated toward Taylor Kitsch during breakups.

“I’d show up to work with a smile on my face thinking I was being professional, while everyone else felt sorry for the guy whose heart had just been broken, my coworkers weren’t taking me out for drinks… they were taking him out,” she explained.

For Taylor Kitsch, 2025 arrived with a resolution that had everything to do with balance. “Got to have a little bit more of a life,” the star told People.

Since stepping into the spotlight as Tim Riggins in 2006, Kitsch admitted that juggling work and personal time had never come easily.

“There’s never going to be a balance, but I’m more conscious of the lack of balance now in my 40s than I was in my 20s and 30s,” he explained.

Taylor Kitsch described how the demands of his profession often left relationships behind.

“I was telling a buddy who’s an actor, ‘Man, I can’t even get a dog yet, he was like, ‘Man, I can’t even buy more than four bananas, because that’s how great my lack of commitment is,’” shared Taylor.

Still, the very thing that complicated his personal life continued to inspire him. As he moved forward, Kitsch said he focused on projects that challenged him.

“I want to keep pushing and make sure I’m not getting comfortable, now, it’s about the right stories and the people I’m working with. I’m way more comfortable with myself and who I am as a person and as an actor,” he shared.

He also told the outlet about his immediate plans:

"I'm going to Patagonia with two of my best friends on a two-week motorcycle ride to photograph the pumas. It's those things I want to start doing a lot more of."
