How are friends and family honoring Kelley Mack weeks after her death at 33? Memorial events explored

Three weeks after The Walking Dead star Kelley Mack’s death, her family and friends are coming together to honor her life with a Los Angeles Celebration of Life. The event will take place on September 7, 2025, as announced in an Instagram post shared by Kelley’s sister on August 24, 2025.

Kelley died on August 2 in her hometown of Cincinnati. She was battling glioma of the central nervous system. The news of her death was confirmed by her agent, Julie Smith, and her sister on social media, as per USA Today.

Along with being an actress, Kelley was also a producer and a writer. She was 33 years old at the time of her death.

Kelley's death was announced by her sister. In the post, she said:

''It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go.''

She mentioned that Kelley passed away peacefully in the presence of her mother, Kristen, and aunt Karen. She concluded the post by adding:

''She would want you all to know how much she loves you. And as her sister, I want you all to know how brave that tough SOB was, especially when she decided to make the leap to be reunited with God. I’m so f**king proud of her.''

The post also mentioned that Mack's life celebration in Ohio will take place on August 16th. Earlier in January, Mack had shared the news of her cancer diagnosis on social media. In the post, she mentioned:

''I have been diagnosed with #diffusemidlineglioma, an extremely rare type of #astrocytoma #cancer. Due to the biopsy surgery on my spinal cord, I have lost the use of my right leg and most of my left leg, so I now get around with a walker and a wheelchair.''

In the same post, she also mentioned how she had lower back pain, itching in the right quad, and shooting pain in the legs and back before her diagnosis. She mentioned that she had done MRIs on Thanksgiving Eve, which revealed that she had an abnormal mass in her spinal cord.

Mack appeared on The Walking Dead in Season 9, Episode 3, where she played the role of Addy. She also appeared in Chicago Med, where she played the role of a patient named Valerie Fairchild, and in films, including Broadcast Signal Intrusion.

She also worked as a producer on several indie projects, including A Knock at the Door, The Perfect One, and Portrait of a Dead Man. Several of her fans poured their love and wishes for Mack on social media following her death and related announcements.
