Greater Western New York Film Critics Association (GWNYFCA) Awards: Complete list of nominees explored

The Greater Western New York Film Critics Association has officially announced its nominations for this year.

It is the group's eighth annual film awards. Final voting ballots will be available till December 31, 2025. Winners will be officially announced on January 10, 2026, at the Dryden Theatre in Rochester, New York.

The Greater Western New York Film Critics Association's 2024 award winners were as follows:

  • Best Film: Challengers
  • Best Director: Luca Guadagnino, Challengers
  • Best Actor: Colman Domingo, Sing Sing
  • Best Actress: Marianne Jean Baptiste, Hard Truths
  • Best Supporting Actor: Kieran Culkin, A Real Pain
  • Best Supporting Actress: Natasha Lyonne, His Three Daughters
  • Best Original Screenplay: Jesse Eisenberg, A Real Pain
  • Best Adapted Screenplay: Clint Bentley, Greg Kwedar, Clarence Maclin, and John Whitfield: Sing Sing
  • Best Animated Film: The Wild Robot
  • Best Documentary: No Other Land
  • Best Foreign Film: No Other Land
  • Best Cinematography: Jarin Blaschke, Nosferatu
  • Best Editing: Marco Costa, Challengers
  • Best Score: Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Challengers
  • Breakthrough Director: RaMell Ross, Nickel Boys
  • Breakthrough Performance: Clarence Maclin, Sing Sing

One Battle After Another is leading this year's Greater Western New York Film Critics Association Awards nominees list with 12 nominations. Sinners is following with 11, and Marty Supreme has earned 10. In total, thirty-one different titles are represented across the ballot.

Greater Western New York Film Critics Association's official website reads:

"Founded in 2018 as a way to bring the disparate voices from the area together, the Greater Western New York Film Critics Association membership includes writers from daily newspapers, weekly newspapers, magazines, and online venues. We’re here to amplify each others’ work as well as champion the best cinema has to offer each year with regular polls and a year-end awards vote."
