Tom Holland recently suffered a mild concussion while filming some scenes in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
It's the latest tentpole project from Marvel Studios in their MCU franchise, which began filming in Glasgow, Scotland, in August 2025, and continued the shooting process further in Pinewood Studios in England.
The 29-year-old was reportedly injured during the studio shoot in the UK. During the treatment, where he was examined, he was advised to take a break from filming as a precautionary measure, according to Deadline. The outlet also reports that the shoot will resume in a few days, while Culture Crave suggests that it won't affect the film's release date on July 31, 2026.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks Holland's latest standalone Spider-Man project in the MCU, where he will reprise his role alongside Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, also making a return as MJ and Ned Leeds, respectively.
Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Liza Colón-Zayas, Tramell Tillman, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Mando are the rest of the film's reported cast so far.
Despite a delay in filming, Spider-Man: Brand New Day may not shift its release date

Filming for an action blockbuster like Spider-Man: Brand New Day can be a taxing experience, but Tom Holland seems up for the challenge. He spoke about it during his interview for the YouTube series Flip Your Wig. According to Deadline, here's what he said about reprising his role as Peter Parker:
“I’m obviously over the moon and so excited. Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal. And I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID; we shot the entire film on stages.”
He also added,
“Now, we’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow and we’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow to build this massive set-piece that we’re putting together. So it’s gonna feel like making [2017’s] Spider-Man 1 again. It’s been such a long time since I’ve done it, it’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air, and I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we’re putting together.”
Later, in an on-set video from Sony Pictures Entertainment, the star spoke about his experience of shooting in Glasgow:
“I feel good, man. It’s day one, my fourth-ever day one on Spider-Man. You know, it’s funny, putting the suit on, it feels different this time, somehow. It’s also the first time we’ve ever had fans on set for day one, so it’s really exciting to share this with them.”
The video also shows Holland in his costume, interacting with young fans who were also dressed in a Spider-Man suit. Speaking about these interactions and the overall experience of spearheading this important MCU project, he said,
“We’ve got some familiar faces on set. I’m just gonna do my best, hopefully get it right. No pressure.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is slated to be released in theaters on July 31, 2026.
