Cosmo Jarvis recently portrayed the survivor Elliot Miller in Warfare. Now he is set to portray a young Joseph Stalin, according to Variety, when he was just a low-time goon before becoming the Soviet strongman. It will be a biopic based on a Simon Sebag Montefiore bestseller, with Gela Babluani set to direct.

The logline of the film, as Variety presents, goes like this:

"Set against the backdrop of Imperial Russia’s criminal underworld and revolutionary ferment, the film explores the making of the bloody dictator who would reshape the 20th century through terror, war and ideology — and the largest bank heist in Russian history."

One of the producers, Danny Cohen, says that this is one "largely unknown story" about Stalin, which also explains the director's interest in the story, who is "drawn to stories that live in the shadows."

What projects has Cosmo Jarvis been a part of before this?

His most popular project to date is, of course, Shōgun, portraying Pilot Major John Blackthorne alongside actors Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Tommy Bastow, and more. He was nominated for Best Actor in a Streaming Drama Series during the 4th Astra TV Awards.

Other than that, he also appeared in the British crime drama Peaky Blinders, where Cillian Murphy takes the lead as Tommy Shelby. He has acted in shows including Raised by Wolves (2020), Vera (2017), My Mother and Other Strangers, and more.

Moving on to Cosmo Jarvis's film credits, he played one of the leads in Ray Mendoza's Warfare recently, which is described as one of the most realistic depictions of war on the screen; it looks like that intense preparation proved fruitful. He's acted alongside We're the Millers' Will Poulter, Stranger Things' Joseph Quinn, Daredevil: Born Again's Michael Gandolfini, and more.

Cosmo Jarvis appeared alongside Robert De Niro in The Alto Knights, too, which was released this year. There, he played an American mobster, Vincent Gigante. The film failed critically and commercially and grossed only $9 million against an estimated $45–50 million budget.

He also appears in an uncredited role in Annihilation (2018), where he played a special ops soldier.

In Cosmo's critically acclaimed roles, he acted in Nick Rowland's film called Calm with Horses (released as The Shadow of Violence in the US). It's currently sitting with a brilliant 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes as of this writing. Michael Fassbender was an executive producer on this.

Additionally, he has been a part of films like Funny Face (2020), The Marker (2017), Lady Macbeth (2016), and more.

Other than this one, Cosmo Jarvis is currently a part of the highly anticipated Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which is interestingly the acclaimed director's first foray into the mythical lands. It will hit the theaters on July 17, 2026. Other than Jarvis, Robert Pattinson, Matt Damon, Charlize Theron, and more are in the film, too.

Then there's Guy Ritchie's Wife & Dog, where the actor will be seen alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike, Anthony Hopkins, and more. There's no release date for it yet.
