Going off-script is often a testament to an actor's skill. It shows how deeply they have inhibited the characters they are supposed to portray. Even though it's a calculated risk, oftentimes, the genuine mistakes or the known tweaks made by actors resonate so deeply with the character they are embodying that it makes it into the scene. Anthony Hopkins added to the sinister appeal of The Silence of the Lambs through his chilling performance. One such scene is when he produces hissing sounds after reminiscing about his meal of human liver. This was not in the script but it added such a grotesque quality to the scene that the directors had to add it to the final cut.

His dentures fall into the wine glass and while retrieving them he says “Carpe Denture … seize the teeth.” The scene perfectly showcases Williams's wit and charm.

One of the iconic scenes in Avengers: Infinity War is when Peter Quill asks “Where is Gamora?” to which Tony Stark replies “I’ll do you one better, Who is Gamora?” Unexpectedly, actor Dave Bautista who plays Drax adds, “I’ll do you one better, Why is Gamora?” The line was added spontaneously by Dave Bautista and inserted a wave of humor in the serious action scene which was highly appreciated and loved by all.

When his character is leaving for the rescue of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia says to him, “I love you.” As per the script, Ford was required to reply “I love you too” but he improvised with “I know.” The scene has since then received such wide appreciation and has become a trademark of the franchise.

This adds to the humor by showing Ross's social awkwardness and making the situation even more bizarre.

Iron Man, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. also happens to be the most popular Avenger due to his irrelevant humor which makes serious moments fun. One scene in the movie included Iron Man sacrificing himself after the battle with Loki’s forces in New York. While Iron Man was originally supposed to wake up, he wakes up and says “Anybody feel like having some shawarma?”

It was later revealed that the scene was improvised by Richard Gere and Julia Roberts's reaction was genuine.

Actor Matthew McConaughey’s improvisation in Dazed and Confused was so iconic, that with time it has become his catchphrase. The scene involves McConaughey saying “Alright, Alright, Alright” while approaching some girls. The scene turned out to be so charming that Matthew McConaughey even used it in his acceptance speech at the Oscars.

It was twisted and just the right amount of wicked.
