Fiona made an admission to Xander; Days of our Lives Recap for Monday, September 16, 2024

Fiona (Serena Scott Thomas) stopped Xander
Fiona (Serena Scott Thomas) stopped Xander's (Paul Telfer) assault on Brady (Eric Martsolf).

At the Titan office, a bat-wielding Xander threatened Brady. Fiona tried to intervene in the impending attack by claiming that she had a confession to make. Xander angrily wondered what Fiona could possibly say that would stop him from taking revenge on Brady. Xander urged her to leave, turned back to Brady, and raised the bat. Xander froze when Fiona revealed that she and Brady had slept together.

A disgusted Xander refused to believe Fiona, so she reminded him about how she had been seeing a mystery man. When Xander realized that the man had been Brady, he spat that he had changed his mind. He rushed toward Brady and grabbed his shirt, vowing to kill rather than maim his nephew. Brady insisted that he had not known Fiona’s identity when they had first met. Xander balked, but Fiona continued that she and Brady had been “two lost souls” who had found comfort with each other.

Xander was enraged and demanded to know if the affair had been ongoing and if Fiona had been drunk during her and Brady’s interactions. “Did you fall off the wagon and land on this jackass?” Xander snarked. Brady only admitted that both he and Fiona had been going through rough times when they had met, and Fiona added that her and Brady’s first meeting had occurred the night of Xander’s aborted wedding. Xander challenged Fiona to confirm that she was blaming him, and she clarified that she had just wanted Xander to understand why he could not harm Brady. With a sneer, Xander asked if Fiona had feelings for Brady.

Fiona insisted that she did not and claimed that she had ended her dalliance with Brady after he had confessed to Sarah’s hit-and-run. Xander warned Brady to stay away from his family and pledged that he would not rest until Brady had paid. He fired Brady and stormed out of the office.

After Xander left, Brady thanked Fiona for coming to his aid. She, in turn, thanked him for not disclosing that she had also been drinking when they had met. With seeming regret, Fiona told Brady that it would be best if they did not see each other again.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Maggie arrived home and caught up with Sarah. She asked Sarah about Sarah’s session with Marlena, and Sarah relayed that she hadn’t been able to remember the driver’s face. Maggie surmised that Xander had to have been frustrated, and she wondered where he had gone. Sarah admitted that Xander had been upset and that, unbeknownst to her, he had departed while she had been in the bathroom.

Sarah hoped that Fiona could talk Xander down, but Sarah was worried that Xander’s rage would not abate until Brady was punished. Maggie prodded Sarah to focus on her recovery and her daughter and to stop worrying about Xander, as Xander was “a grown man” who needed to learn to control his emotions and impulses. Sarah realized that Maggie was right.

Later, Sarah was curious when Xander arrived home with a bat in hand. He shocked her by indicating his plan to hurt Brady. Sarah was even more stunned after Xander revealed that his mother had stopped him by confessing to a relationship with Brady.

Alex visited Stephanie at her apartment. He apologized for not having been able to attend Everett’s memorial, but Stephanie understood. She invited him in for a drink, and he gladly accepted. As they settled on the couch, Stephanie opened up about her feelings for Everett, her hopes for their future, and her guilt that she had been unable to help him through his pain. Alex urged Stephanie not to blame herself and promised her that she would find love again, as she was “the total package.”

Stephanie thanked Alex for his support, and he embraced her. When they pulled away, they locked eyes and kissed. They fell back on the couch and made out, but Alex put on the brakes and reminded Stephanie that she was in mourning and that he was still getting over Theresa. He believed that both he and Stephanie needed a friend, and he didn’t want to ruin their bond. Stephanie marveled about how much Alex had changed since first coming to town.

When Alex called himself “new and hopefully improved,” Stephanie concurred. They agreed to order food and to watch a show together. Later, Stephanie joked with Alex about his choice of show, which was Ted. She conceded that she had liked the main character, a raunchy teddy bear, because he reminded her of Alex. The duo shared a smile and settled in to watch another episode.

Steve (Stephen Nichols) voiced his suspicions.
Steve (Stephen Nichols) voiced his suspicions.

At the Brady Pub, Kayla noticed that Steve was distracted during their meal. Steve admitted that he couldn’t stop thinking about his recent interaction with Abigail. He updated Kayla on Abigail’s claim that she had confused Kayla with another doctor when mentioning a treatment plan to Stephanie. Kayla chastised Steve for putting pressure on Abigail and asked if he had believed his niece. Steve responded that Abigail’s explanation had seemed “thin,” and he mused about the reasons why she might have lied.

Kayla directly asked Steve if he believed the woman he had talked to was Abigail. He stated that he was having doubts, especially after he had walked in on Abigail talking to Stefano’s portrait about her brother. He couldn’t make sense of Abigail’s explanation that she had been referring to J.J., and he also couldn’t understand why Abigail would have needed reconstructive surgery to her face when she had been stabbed in the stomach. When Kayla asserted that the DNA test had proven the woman to be Abigail, Steve cited the amount of test tampering that had occurred at the hospital and asked Kayla to run another secret test.

Kayla blasted Steve for suggesting that she violate her Hippocratic oath and perform a test on Abigail without her consent. She insisted Steve find another way to act on his suspicions. However, when Steve brought up the possibility of meeting with Clyde, Kayla contested that idea, as well. She bristled after Steve threatened Clyde, and she stressed that she didn’t want Steve placing himself in danger. Steve assured Kayla that he only wanted to talk to Clyde, and he pressed her to have faith that he could get answers from the man.

At the DiMera mansion, a frazzled “Abigail” talked with Mark over the phone and worried that Steve was onto her. She was forced to hang up when Chad arrived. Chad inquired about the call, and “Abigail” stammered out an excuse that she had been trying to order sushi. Chad accepted the explanation and mentioned that he had stopped by to check on her. “Abigail” wondered if Stephanie had talked with Chad about her and Abigail’s conversation.

Chad conceded that Stephanie had been confused by Abigail’s apparent mix-up regarding Kayla. “Abigail” defended that she had mistaken “Dr. Johnson" for "Dr. Johannsen” and that she had been having trouble keeping all the names straight. Chad agreed that it had to have been difficult for her when everyone had been trying to “shove 35 years of memories into your brain.” He promised her that Stephanie had understood, but “Abigail” was not so sure that her “Uncle Steve” had been as accepting. After Chad mentioned Steve having wanted to see Abigail with his own eyes, “Abigail” made a wisecrack about Steve’s one eye and was aghast.

Chad put her at ease and lightly laughed, and he admitted he had not heard Abigail make a joke like that before. He attributed Steve’s seeming skepticism to being overwhelmed, like Jennifer had been. “Abigail” asked if Chad felt overwhelmed. He sincerely replied that he felt like he had “gotten the miracle I have been praying for every day since you left me.” As Chad assured “Abigail” that he only wanted to comfort and love her, she grew visibly emotional.

“Abigail” asked Chad what was in the bag he had brought with him, and he admitted that it was their wedding album. He quickly added that he didn’t want to pressure her, but “Abigail” insisted that she wanted to see the book. Chad sat down with her, and he explained the stories behind the photos as she scrolled through the album. He said that he had memorized their wedding vows, and he began reciting them after "Abigail" made the request. He ended the recitation with the line, “A love like ours really does last a lifetime."

“Abigail” seemed deeply affected by Chad’s words and muttered that no one had ever said anything like that to her before—at least that she remembered. Chad recalled how Julie had ended the vow recitation by telling him to kiss his bride. He and “Abigail” gazed at each other. They leaned in for a kiss, but a call from Julie interrupted the moment. Chad informed “Abigail” that Charlotte had woken up from a nightmare and needed him. After she and Chad exchanged an awkward and tender goodbye, “Abigail” stifled a sob when she was alone.

“Abigail” declared that she didn’t know how much longer she could “do this.” She received a text, and her expression changed to concern and panic. The text was from Clyde and read, “Why haven’t you gotten Chad back down the aisle yet? You know what’s going to happen if you don’t.”
