Days of our Lives has some changes going on behind the scenes. Janet Drucker, who took over as co-executive producer in 2023, is retiring in May. Noel Maxam, a veteran producer/director with DAYS, is stepping into the co-executive producer role.
Drucker's last day in Salem will be on May 2, 2025. Maxam, currently the show's senior producer, will succeed her.
Drucker, a veteran of the DAYS production team, became co-exec producer in 2023, getting a bump up from her title of coordinating producer after taking over for Albert Alarr. Drucker is the fourth woman to hold the title of co-executive producer at DAYS.
Drucker said in a statement: "It has been an honor and the pleasure of a lifetime to make my mark in Salem over the past 41 years. I will forever consider this show and everyone involved my second home, but it is time for me to focus on my family.”
Maxam's other credits include being a writer at As the World Turns and working as a producer/director at The Young and the Restless. He moved to Salem in 2008 and served as the Peacock drama's co-executive producer from 2011-12.
“Janet began her career with us as a production associate and steadily rose through the ranks, becoming an integral part of our leadership team," Ken Corday, executive producer, said in a statement. "She has been a guiding presence behind the scenes, and her positive influence has left a lasting legacy. We thank her deeply for her dedication, talent, and heart."
As for Maxam, Corday confidently shares: “Noel brings with him an exceptional blend of creative vision, technical expertise, and leadership experience. His deep understanding of the genre and steady hand behind the scenes make him the ideal choice to help lead us forward.”
The show has also undergone some changes in the writing in recent months. In July 2024, Ron Carlivati exited as head writer. Scribes Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford became DAYS's new head writing team.
DAYS, which debuted on November 8, 1965, is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary later this year. The show was co-created by the late Irna Phillips (The Guiding Light and As the World Turns) and Ted Corday (a former director of ATWT). Less than a year into the show, Ted Corday passed away. His late wife, Betty, assumed charge of the show. She was credited as "Mrs. Ted Corday."
