At the hospital, Rafe talked with Sarah after a checkup on Tesoro. The adults commiserated over the shared painful experience they had of surrendering babies they had come to love. Rafe comforted himself with the notion that at least he knew going in to the foster agreement that he would be giving up Tesoro.

At Marlena’s place, Tate stopped by to check on Rachel, while Marlena left for the hospital. Tate took advantage of the alone time with Brady to fill his dad in on his fight with Holly and his subsequent plan to use Sophia’s feelings for him to get her to open up. Brady strongly disapproved of Tate’s actions and cautioned his son about using Sophia and destroying his relationship with Holly in the process.

Tate sheepishly admitted he’d kissed Sophia on impulse to keep her from catching on to his plan. Brady advised Tate to let Steve and him handle the situation, to come clean with Sophia, and to fix his relationship with Holly. Tate eventually conceded his dad was right and departed to find Holly.

Back at the hospital, Marlena met with Sarah for an update on Marlena's latest physical results. Sarah broke the news to Marlena that the tests still hadn’t uncovered any physical abnormalities. Marlena claimed she was feeling better anyway, and the conversation turned to Rachel. Sarah vowed to help Marlena be there for the little girl. Marlena wondered if it would be difficult for Sarah given her history with raising Rachel as Mackenzie.

Sarah said she would always have loving feelings for Rachel. Moreover, most of her memories surrounding the girl were positive. Sarah also thanked Marlena for agreeing to counsel Xander. She believed the sessions were having a good influence.

Sarah was especially hopeful because she thought a reconciliation with Xander was possible. Marlena surprised Sarah by suggesting couples counseling. Sarah was game but wasn’t sure Xander would be willing. Marlena urged her to talk about it with him.

In Horton Town Square, Brady encountered Rafe and Tesoro. Brady gazed at the little boy, in awe of the fact that Tesoro could be his grandson. Rafe allowed Brady to hold the baby. He also told Brady about Johnny and Chanel’s desire to adopt Tesoro.

Brady noted the “irony” of the situation, since the couple had once wanted to adopt Tate and Sophia’s baby – who could turn out to be Tesoro. Brady thought Johnny and Chanel adopting the baby would be ideal if Tesoro and Tate's child were "one in the same." Tate would be at peace knowing about his son, while the child would still remain in the family.

At Johnny and Chanel’s place, Johnny fretted about potentially losing his job at Titan-DiMera. He wanted to be able to provide for any baby they would adopt and worried the lack of a stable job history would be held against him. Chanel reminded Johnny that with her income from the bakery and his trust fund, they had more than enough to provide for the baby. Even if Johnny didn’t have full-time employment, it might be looked at as a plus for the adoption because at least one of them would be home to care for the infant.

Chanel believed the letter of recommendation Rafe – the baby’s foster parent – had written for Johnny would work in their favor as well. Johnny’s mood brightened after the pep talk. Both he and Chanel assured each other that they would be wonderful parents.

At the Brady Pub, Holly was surprised to find that Arianna had left their room early to come to the pub. Ari said she’d wanted to get in her application to intern at Titan-DiMera before she lost her “in” with Kate due to the company upheaval. When Sophia arrived on the scene, Ari grew uncomfortable. Holly quickly excused herself, giving Sophia and Ari a moment of privacy. While Sophia complained about Holly’s attitude, Ari again questioned what she had witnessed outside Tate’s dorm room.

Sophia noticed Holly was returning and loudly announced that she was sorry Tate had cheated on Holly again. Holly was outraged and didn’t believe Sophia at first…until Sophia insinuated that Ari knew the truth. Satisfied she had gotten the response she wanted, Sophia left Ari to deal with the fallout. Ari claimed she hadn’t told Holly about seeing Sophia outside Tate’s room because Sophia had initially said nothing had happened. Ari, however, had doubted Sophia's assertion.

Outside the pub, Johnny met with Sophia to bring her up to speed on what she’d missed during his first film class. Johnny expressed his hope that Sophia hadn’t skipped the class after finding out he was the professor. Sophia acknowledged she’d struggled when he had opted out of the adoption of her baby. She even made a comment about the decision “almost destroying” her life. Chanel soon approached, happy and oblivious to the awkward exchange that had just unfolded.

Chanel greeted Sophia, who made her exit – to the side of the pub, out of view. Chanel eagerly filled Johnny in on how Paulina had contacted the adoption agency and had nudged them one step closer in the adoption process. The couple celebrated the prospect of adopting Baby Tesoro. Unbeknownst to them, Sophia lurked in the background and eavesdropped on the conversation.

Back inside the pub, Tate had arrived and asked Holly to talk. Holly, however, was in no mood for talking and proceeded to deliver Tate a punch to the face. While outraged and confused at first, Tate backed down when Holly accused him of being a “simp” who had gone “crawling back” to Sophia after not even a day had passed since their fight.

Tate began to explain, but Holly cut him off and called herself a fool for not listening to everyone who had warned about the bond between Sophia and him. “I'm done. We’re over, Tate – for good this time,” Holly declared before storming out of the pub.
