Arianne Zucker set for a fall return on Days of our Lives

Summer may not have started yet, but it's looking like Salem will be sizzling hot this fall. Why? Because Arianne Zucker will be reprising the role of Nicole Walker.

In March 2017, Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker) stunned Days of our Lives fans by announcing that she'd be exiting her Emmy-nominated role. Luckily, due to Days of our Lives' unusual production schedule, Zucker continued to appear on-screen through the fall.

While Salem always seems to have some sort of drama to help fill its days, there is a certain type of drama that only Nicole can bring. And this fall, she'll once again be bringing it to DAYS.

Soap Opera Digest reports that Zucker has already filmed a Days of our Lives return. It's unclear exactly when those scenes will air or how Zucker managed to report to work under the radar of Internet spies. Stay tuned to Soap Central for additional information as we get closer to her "first" airdate.

Zucker sat down to chat with Soap Central in May 2017, shortly after news of her DAYS exit was announced. Zucker called her DAYS exit a risk, adding "[y]ou have to do things that you feel are right in your heart. And as much temptation as there was to stay, I made a decision for me, and I like to stick to my plans. I know plans are meant to change, so I'm open to that, but I have a direction I want to go in, and I'm building that. So as much as I wanted to stay and see what [then-new head writer] Ron [Carlivati] had to write, I also wanted to stick to my heart and my goal and my dreams, because you are never, ever, ever, ever, ever too old to dream. Ever. I always tell my daughter that all the time."

Since leaving DAYS, Zucker has had time to explore some of those other directions. She's filmed a second season of the Emmy-nominated series Ladies of the Lake, she's appeared in the controversial Lifetime film Web Cam Girls, and she's found time to take some ballroom dancing lessons with real-life beau Shawn Christian (ex-Daniel Jonas).

And now, it would seem that Zucker indulged her curiosity about how Carlivati would write for her alter ego.

Zucker also appears open for more returns but told Digest, "I just don't want to be on contract right now."
