Alicia Leigh Willis returns to daytime for DAYS role

Former General Hospital and Another World star Alicia Leigh Willis is headed back to daytime. The Emmy-nominated actress is set to appear later this month on Days of our Lives.

Days of our Lives has scooped up another former daytime star. The NBC soap has hired two-soap vet Alicia Leigh Willis for a role that will tie into Liam's storyline.

Willis appeared as Courtney Matthews on General Hospital from December 2001 to February 2006. Prior to that, Willis portrayed Alli Fowler on Another World for a short time in 1999.

This is not, however, the first time that Willis has worked at Days of our Lives -- but it's the first time that fans will see her air. In 2010, Willis filled in for an ailing Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe Lane). Though Willis taped a day's worth of DAYS scenes, when Bjorlin returned from her one-day sick leave, DAYS execs allowed Bjorlin to retape those scenes.

The news of Willis' hiring was first reported by Soap Opera Digest. The actress will first air on April 22.
