Why don't you trust me? The Bold and the Beautiful Two Scoops for the week of November 11, 2024

Carter took a quick break from pitching his expansion idea to come up with a not-well-thought-out plan for revenge for not getting what he wanted. But at least he looked good doing it. Let’s follow the bouncing ball and see if it gives us some hope for the future…

Employee of the Month

Carter put some mileage on his Corvette this week, but not nearly as much as he would have if he had actually worked.

Carter went from being the self-proclaimed most dedicated and hardest-working non-family member at Forrester Creations to, and this is a hard title to get, the biggest slacker. One would think that now that his years of spending his evenings at home researching, he’d use that time for his extra-curricular activities, but nope, Carter’s just not showing up for work anymore, except to speak on behalf of Hope, and to pitch his idea for — say it with me — a global luxury brand, via mergers and acquisitions.

It’s just weird to me that Carter had this big idea, worked on it for years, said nothing…and then he pitched it out of nowhere, and at the first sign of hesitancy, he’s offended to the point that he wanted revenge immediately.

Still No Hope for the Future

Brooke and Deacon did their best this week to try to rally Steffy’s two closest people to turn on her. Deacon went for Finn, and Brooke tracked down Taylor at Steffy’s house. I’m not sure why they thought this was a good game plan, but they got nowhere.

I had to laugh, though, when Deacon kept telling Finn what happened that fateful day when Hope landed on him in lingerie. Finn finally said, “I was in the room, remember?” Ah, good point. Finn WAS in the room — and yet no one has ever asked him what happened.

The Forrester vs. Logan War

Sigh…the war. The war that must end. The war was only declared by the Logans but apparently only fought by the Forresters. Honestly, this is the most confusing war between two families since…well, I guess since always. There’s only been the Logans vs. Forresters, really. I mean, sure, there’s been contenders. Sally Spectra was an annoyance in comparison, and Bill Spencer tried to get in there a few times, but overall, really, it’s just been the Logan vs Forrester war all along, but apparently, it needs to stop now.

The Logans had been perfectly content just complaining about behind closed doors until Carter decided to be the champion for the underdogs. But when did this war actually start? Brooke is hardly subservient. Does she really feel that suppressed at work and has never mentioned it to her soulmate when they go home at the end of the day?

Ridge is with one of the Logan sisters and Eric is married to the other. And Katie is the head of PR and doesn’t need to be if she hates it that much. They’ve been paying Pam an executive assistant salary for making lemon bars for years, and apparently kept HFTF afloat because Hope was family (and not the “stain” that Ridge called her years ago).

But let’s hit the brakes in Carter’s new car for a moment and do a little retrospect into what happened here.

Yes, absolutely the Logans have been having issues with the Forresters since the beginning of time. But not so much at work. The company threw a lot into Brooke’s Bedroom to make that a reality, and to ensure its success. Carter should know this as he got a free trip to Monte Carlo to ensure his allocated funds were spent on pulling out all the stops for Brooke’s launch.

As for Hope, if anyone killed her line, it was Carter. For months he was printing off spreadsheets and reports and ensuring that Ridge and Steffy understood the dire situation that HFTF was in. But one day, Carter told Hope that he thought about her in her mom’s lingerie and bam! Carter lost his memory and his foresight at the same time.

If there is anyone who knows that cutting HFTF was a business decision and nothing more, it’s Carter. Sure, now he’s saying that they need the current HFTF buyers who aren’t spending on the line to hang around until one day they become couture customers (you can read that again, it will never make sense), but he wasn’t singing that tune when he was an acting COO and not just one in title only.

President of the Never Been Told No Club

Yep, I’m railing on Carter this week. It was just a nanosecond ago when he could think like the COO and not just a lovestruck dummy (too soon?).

Last week, when Carter went to Eric’s to plead his case about the global luxury brand, Eric said something interesting. Aside from never being in debt his entire career to not wanting to make more money, Eric was against the idea because it “wasn’t who they were as a company.” He told Carter that he’d lost the vision of Forrester with that plan.

But Carter didn’t care about that. He didn’t care that the guy who started the company and still owned it was saying no, this isn’t our style, thanks but no thanks. It went in one ear and out the other because apparently Carter only cares about pleasing Hope.

All Carter heard was some noise that sounded like he might not get what he wanted, so he tuned him out. Then he went back to Ridge to get angry that he actually expected him to work.

The Revenge

Ok, first, let’s just do a tiny recap in RJ terms of what Carter’s big idea for revenge was so we’re all on the same page. In comparison to how many times we hear the mergers and acquisitions pitch, the whole LLC thing was glossed over.

So, basically, Ridge wanted Carter to set up a shell company like an umbrella. Then, Forrester Creations, plus whatever other companies they own, would file taxes under that LLC umbrella so that they’d all get better tax breaks. That would make the LLC the parent company, the big Kahuna in the Forrester brand, even though it was just a business name registered somewhere for tax purposes.

Carter realized that he could take advantage of the trust he’s been yelling at everyone to appreciate, by throwing it out the window with his calculator. He told Hope that all he had to do was fill out the forms naming himself as the CEO and voila, he’ll have taken over Forrester.

While technically, there may be some truth to that, he’d probably have a fraud case on his hands in the real world. But it’s not the real world, so let’s say it was actually a good idea.

And by good, I mean an interesting twist, but what the heck, Carter? Here they’ve been, keeping Hope on a pedestal as a pillar of everything right and pure. She was a “beacon of light” in Carter’s eyes and the “light of the company,” and everything that was right with Forrester was because of Hope. But now, she’s using her Jedi mind powers to make Carter talk like he’s in some sort of a trance.

With one long look or a kiss from Hope, Carter changes his mind about everything. He keeps saying that he cares about the company and has tworked night and day on a plan. But for some reason, he thinks he and Hope are entitled to take over the company. I’m going to be bald with the amount the amount of head scratching and hair pulling these two are causing.

Carter said several times that they could turn it all around if they just told Steffy about them being together. She’d have her job back, she’d have her line back, but Hope said they couldn’t do that. Instead, she thinks that forging your way into taking over a company is the way to go, because hey, no drama there.

Are we sure Shandra isn’t needed at the cabin?

Elsewhere in L.A.

Bill and Will’s banter was pretty funny, he’s fitting in quite well as a Spencer male. And Will and Electra had their first kiss, which was cute and all, but then we got a glimpse into her past, aka future.

We got to see who we believe is Remy Price this week, and I think we can all agree it was not a good look. He had photos of Electra in the background, and while she was freaking out that “he” would find her, “he” was muttering, “I’m coming to get you.” So buckle up for that! Next week, Remy will be in L.A., and for some reason, Electra doesn’t seem to realize she’s in danger. Does he have an evil twin, or is he just really good at tricking her?

Speaking of psychos, Luna’s still daydreaming from prison and mailing letters to Bill. But she gave him a schedule, one letter a week, and they’re all going to be for him.

No sign of RJ this week, but his secret power is coming in and fixing things with his inexperienced yet sage advice. Apparently no one in L.A. was in need of sensible solutions this week.
