What happened to Scott Clifton's Liam on The Bold and the Beautiful?

On The Bold and the Beautiful, Liam’s recent concern for his father’s well-being turned to outrage when he discovered Bill had been lying to him (and why) but their confrontation took a turn that no one saw coming.

Liam confronts Bill on The Bold and the Beautiful

Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) was furious that his dad had been lying to him, but the reason behind it is something he just can’t understand. Bill (Don Diamont) had suddenly stopped coming into work, not for the out-of-character “me-time” he claimed, but because he was secretly harboring a double-murderer in his house. And not just any ol’ double-murderer, but Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada), the woman who pretended to be Bill’s daughter, and the one who kidnapped and caged Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), mother of Bill’s granddaughter.

How Bill could possibly forgive Luna, let alone help her live out her life sentence in his mansion, then get her pardoned and freed was too much for Liam to fathom. He went to his dad for an explanation, but Bill was defiant. Ultimately, Liam felt that Bill had chosen Luna over his own flesh and blood and was willing to risk his relationships with his own family to help the woman who tried to kill one of them.

Bill didn’t want to explain. He wanted Liam to stop talking. So instead of making things right, he threatened to fire Liam from the company he’d been running in Bill’s absence. Liam was so offended that he quit instead. At that point, Bill suddenly found his words, but they were not what Liam wanted to hear. Bill told Liam that he was nothing without “his daddy’s help” and sneered at him, saying that he was a loser without him.

Bill told Liam he was leaving for a meeting and not to be in his house when he got back, but as he was walking away, Liam became dizzy. Moments after Bill left, Liam fainted, hitting his head on the coffee table. He woke up some time later, was disoriented, and realized the back of his head was bleeding. Liam fainted again, this time outside the front door, landing on the stone walkway and hitting his head yet again.

Steffy found Liam and called the paramedics immediately. They took him to the hospital, and Dr. Grace Buckingham explained to Steffy that Liam had suffered an internal cranium hemorrhage — a life-threatening injury. Dr. Buckingham ordered an immediate CT scan, but it was too late. Liam flatlined in front of them.
