At the cliff house, Finn came back from surfing to find Brooke at his door. He told her that Ridge had been by earlier to talk about how out of control Hope had been.

Brooke told Finn that Hope made one mistake at Eric’s party, and “that was it.” Brooke added that Hope said it wouldn’t happen again, and it hasn’t. Finn said that Brooke wasn’t in the room when Hope pinned him on a desk wearing nothing but lingerie. Brooke insisted it was a misunderstanding. “Hope is not interested in you, Finn,” Brooke added. Finn rolled his eyes.

Brooke said that Finn needed to admit that Steffy might have other motivations for firing Hope. Finn said it was pretty big of Steffy to let Hope stay on after kissing him. Brooke said that she knew what it was like to be accused of something you hadn’t done. Finn retorted there was no injustice here and that Hope needed to take responsibility for herself and move on. “Denying it? It’s a bad look,” Finn added. Brooke adamantly snapped at Finn, saying that Hope didn’t want him and was moving on in a completely different direction.

Finn agreed that he and Hope were friends, but Hope took it too far. Brooke insisted that Hope wasn’t a homewrecker. “Steffy’s made mistakes, too,” Brooke told him. Finn warned Brooke that disparaging his wife wasn’t going to help. Brooke said that Steffy would be under fire when the press found out what she did and thought Finn should intervene to prevent that by convincing Steffy to rehire Hope for the sake of the company.

At the cabin, Hope breathlessly recounted that if Carter filed the papers, then it would mean he was in charge of Forrester. Carter added that Steffy and Ridge still needed to sign, but they would probably just trust that everything he had everything in order and sign blindly. “Can I betray their trust? Are we taking over Forrester Creations?” Carter wondered.

Hope re-read the press release and was upset again. She said it felt like all her years of hard work were unappreciated, and she told Carter that he should feel the same. Carter said that he did but wondered if it was enough to warrant a coup at Forrester.

Hope said she could tell Carter was conflicted, but sometimes loyalty could be misplaced. “We’ve been trying so hard to play by their rules. But how can we when the game was always designed for them to win?“ Hope asked. “We’ve been overlooked,” Carter agreed. Hope ranted about Steffy’s leadership and how she did whatever she wanted, but no one questioned it.

Hope reminded Carter of his sore spot and how they shot down his expansion idea. Hope claimed they only disregarded it because they didn’t consider it first. They once again bemoaned how mistreated the Logans had been for decades. Hope reiterated that Ridge would always choose his daughter over his best friend. “Is it really that bad that we’re finally standing up for ourselves? That we’re fighting back?” Hope encouraged.

Hope thought it was out of character of both of them. Carter told Hope that he had a meeting with Ridge and Steffy and would try one more time to get through to them, but if they did not, they would follow through with the plan. “Wait for my call. By the end of the day, our lives could be changed,” Carter said ominously. Hope reminded him that she always believed in him and kissed him passionately before he left.

Alone, Hope recalled the progression of her relationship with Carter for the last couple of weeks and all the times he stood up for her. Brooke interrupted her thoughts by walking through the door. Brooke shared that she tried to talk to Finn, but he believed that Hope had made another play for him.

In the CEO’s office, Katie reported to Steffy that she sent “her niece” the press release. Katie made it known that she wasn’t pleased about the situation, and Steffy told her that she did not care about Katie’s tone. Steffy asked what Katie would have done if she walked in and found a woman in lingerie on top of her husband. Ridge interrupted while Steffy told Katie the topic was closed and Hope was no longer allowed in the building. “She’s done, and there’s nothing she or anyone can do about it,” Steffy concluded.

Katie showed Ridge the press release and noted she could only imagine how Hope felt. “She’s given so much of her life to the company,” Katie added. Katie pointed out that Hope had been forced out of the company, so Steffy interjected to remind them that no one forced Hope to go after Finn. Ridge agreed but said he wished none of it had happened. Steffy thought it sounded like Ridge’s opinion was shifting. “Are you listening to Brooke?” Steffy asked while Katie looked pleased.

Ridge agreed he listened to Brooke; she’s an important person in his life, and her daughter is hurting. But it wasn’t about what Steffy or Hope did. It was about the company. “And getting rid of Hope and HFTF are big decisions for us,” he explained. Katie jumped into the conversation and told Steffy that Hope was not just some employee; she was Brooke Logan’s daughter, which would send shockwaves through the entire industry. “And that’s why we’re going to wait on this press release,” Ridge decided. “Sure!” Katie said quickly before shooting a smug look at Steffy.

Steffy was jaw-dropped. She told her father that he needed to clarify where he stood. Steffy reminded Ridge that he said he would support her, but it sounded like he was defending Hope and Brooke.

Ridge told an upset Steffy that he would always have her back. “Hope not being here right now, that’s the right thing, so I sent her away,” Ridge added. Steffy still felt like he was wavering. She admitted it was personal, but she would never put her feelings above the company. Steffy wondered what message it would send by letting Hope come back.

Ridge understood why she did what she did but thought it was delicate and must be handled accordingly. “I think we can resolve this before things escalate out of control,” Carter said as he joined them.

Carter ripped into Steffy about her decisions as CEO but said he was telling her as a friend. “Your issues with Hope are holding you back. You need to heal yourself,” Carter said. Ridge told him to take a breath. Carter said he was fighting for the future of Forrester, and the company would never be the same if they didn’t reinstate Hope and HFTF. Carter implored Ridge to ensure that HFTF would always have a place at Forrester. “You don’t have any idea what’s at stake if you don’t,” Carter warned.
