All Bill could do was laugh when Liam told him he was quitting his job at Spencer Publications. Bill was furious because he handed Liam his career "on a silver platter." Liam claimed he worked hard for his father's company and earned his job, but Bil begged to differ.
"You can't make it without me," Bill said, angering Liam. "What are you going to do? Go be a computer geek again? You're not going to be anything without your daddy's help."
Liam couldn't even imagine why Bill was talking to him like this. Liam thought he had skills and experience he could apply elsewhere, but Bill just scoffed at the idea. "You talk to me this way, and yet you protect and cover for a murderer like Luna. Dad, she poisoned two people, and you get her pardoned? Do you want to know why I can't relate to you? It's because you're certifiable," Liam shouted.
Liam took Bill to task for not protecting Steffy and Kelly from Luna, but Bill told Liam he was overreacting and blowing everything out of proportion. Bill also thought Liam was bluffing and would never leave Spencer. Liam and Bill kept going at it, with each one insulting the other. Bill implied that Liam was stupid, while Liam called Bill "selfish and volatile."
Bill whined that Liam was always coddled by his mother, a mother who never even told Bill and Liam they were father and son until she was on her deathbed. Liam accused Bill of being disappointed that he couldn't mold Liam in his image. Liam couldn't imagine what Luna did to get Bill to care for her so much. "But that's because you won't tell me, you won't talk to me," Liam cried.
Bill had to turn away from Liam at this point, but Liam kept going. "This is the part where you say, 'Don't go, Liam.' This is the part where you say, 'I love you. This isn't worth losing you over. Why can't you say that?'" Liam asked.
"Are you done going off on me?" was all Bill could muster as a response. Liam couldn't believe that his father just couldn't tell him that he loved him. He accused Bill of having a wall up that hid the real Bill. "Who are you? How come I don't know more about your childhood than can fit on a vague book blurb? Was it so traumatic that you feel more kinship with someone like Luna than me?" Liam asked.
Bill still couldn't do what Liam wanted and just accused him of enjoying "all the trappings of wealth." He then threatened to take away Liam's trust fund, which only further outraged Liam. Bill defended himself and told Liam he almost always put his sons first.
"I am so sick and tired of your poor, woe-is-me attitude. Always feeling sorry for yourself. You had two of the most remarkable women for yourself in Steffy and Hope. And what did you do? You screwed it up. Time and time again. You did that, Mr. Waffle Man," Bill correctly said. Bill also pointed out that he took Liam in all those years ago when he had finally found his long-lost dad.
"You see yourself as Mr. Perfect. Mr. Self-Righeous. But you leave a path of destruction in your wake, with Steffy and Hope and your children as collateral damage," Bill shot back. "You know what, Mr. Big Time? You wanna leave the company? Leave! And don't come crawling back," Bill added. He left for a meeting and warned Liam not to be there when he returned. As Bill bellowed, Liam's vision became blurred. He tried to call out to his dad as he walked away, but Bill didn't hear him as he stormed out the front door. Liam stumbled into the fireplace and tried to hold himself up, but collapsed, hitting his head as he dropped to the floor, unconscious.
Ridge and Steffy sat in Eric's office, doing their jobs. Steffy looked around with a smile on her face, satisfied to be back where she felt she belonged. "It's amazing. Forrester co-CEOs. We're back at it. Like we haven't missed a beat," she said. "It feels good," Ridge responded. "You know what else feels good? Not having to deal with Hope. Brooke and Carter might still be around, but Miss Hope for the Future and all her drama are gone. Forever," Steffy added.
Steffy was also preoccupied with Luna being out of jail and hoped Lt. Baker could do something about it. Ridge agreed that they needed to be on their guard in case Luna wanted to see Finn. "I'm so furious with Bill. How can he allow that psychopath out of prison?" Steffy wondered.
She told Ridge that Liam was just as upset at Bill's actions as everyone else. "He's confused and disillusioned. He's trapping his head around it. Bill basically let this psychopath back into society," Steffy lamented. "Dad, she needs to be stopped, legally or..." she further mused.
Steffy turned the subject back to Liam, someone she clearly couldn't stop thinking about. "He just seems so lost these days...Liam fought so hard for Bill's acceptance, and now he finds out that his own father helps Luna out of prison," Steffy pointed out. Steffy then praised Liam. "He really is a fantastic man and father. I'll never stop caring about him," Steffy admitted.
Brooke and Katie discussed Hope in the Logan living room. Brooke was upset over her latest talk with Hope that led Hope to storm out. Brooke was trying to reach her, but Hope wouldn't respond. "She is struggling with the fact that Carter and I are still working at Forrester Creations. She feels betrayed, like nobody understands her," Brooke said.
Katie felt that Hope would regret the way she had been acting. Brooke agreed. "Until she can accept that she brought this on herself, she is going to feel abandoned and betrayed by everyone in her life," Brooke said.
Hope sought solace in her father's arms at ll Giardano. "You are not alone. I've got you, baby girl. Always," Deacon told his daughter. He promised to always be in Hope's corner and was in disbelief that Carter and Brooke remained with FC. "That whole thing was Carter's fault. He initiated it," Deacon rightly pointed out.
Hope deduced that Steffy kept Carter on just to rub it in Hope's face. Deacon wanted to march into Forrester right then and there and give Steffy a piece of his mind. Hope stopped him, but all Deacon wanted to do was go to bat for his little girl. "I know that you've given everything to this company. You've given your talent and your drive and your passion," Deacon praised.
Deacon assured Hope she would get through this latest crisis because she was strong and resilient. Hope said she didn't feel like going back to her little cabin on her mother's property, so Deacon offered for Hope to stay in the room next to his apartment. Hope wasn't sure if she could get along with Sheila, but Deacon said to trust him that they could make it work.
