At his loft, Carter told Hope she was all he could think about. She gazed into his eyes, and then they ripped off his shirt as they kissed. Hope pulled back and said that they shouldn't go any further.

Carter continued to kiss her neck. "Carter, we shouldn't," she said. "But we could," Carter growled. Hope grabbed him, and they began kissing again. "I want you so much," Carter said.

Hope could feel Carter's heart racing. He said he felt so alive and had thought about Hope for a long time. "I can give you everything you need, Hope. Everything you desire," Carter said, but Hope hesitated to kiss him.

Hope said she was attracted to Carter but wasn't ready to go further. "There's just a lot up in the air in my life and has been for some time," Hope said. She explained that her marriage ended, she lost Thomas and Douglas, and then she lost control and kissed Finn. Carter said he wasn't those men.

"You were involved with my Aunt Katie," Hope said. Carter insisted that he and Katie were just friends and that his feelings for Katie were nothing like those for Hope. "I would never break your heart," Carter said. Hope said that was a bold statement. She told Carter she only wanted to see him secretly and needed to take things slowly. She asked if Carter could agree to those terms, and he responded by kissing her.

At Il Giardino, Brooke reiterated to Deacon how Steffy's agenda has kept Hope under siege at Forrester. Brooke repeated how Carter sang Brooke's praises at the Hope for the Future meeting, but it wasn't just about her line. Brooke said Carter had complimented Hope as a woman, as well. Deacon suggested that Carter was seeing Hope in a whole new light.

Brooke said that Carter and Hope have respected each other for years. Deacon lamented that Steffy had taken "target practice at our kid." Deacon said he'd like to high-tail it over to Forrester and give Steffy a piece of his mind, but Brooke said that would only make things worse for Hope. They were both glad that Hope had Carter to look out for her.

Brooke said she was glad she and Deacon could talk and noted their relationship was comfortable. Deacon felt he had changed for the better over the years. Brooke wondered why he married Sheila, but Deacon wanted to keep the conversation focused on Hope.

Deacon acknowledged that Hope didn't need a man to rescue her but wanted her to be happy. He and Brooke wished Hope had a man like Carter in her personal life. Brooke thought there was a chance that Liam and Hope would reconcile. Deacon said the way Liam bounced between Hope and Steffy reminded him of Brooke, Taylor, and Ridge.

Deacon wanted to thank Carter. Deacon said he would seat Carter at the nicest table or pick up the tab for him and his date. Brooke said Carter had been with her sister but thought it was over. They agreed that any man would be lucky to have Hope.

Ridge came into the office as Steffy was finishing a call with a buyer who was no longer interested in Hope for the Future. Steffy told Ridge it was hard to change the buyer's mind as they had felt the same way. Ridge noted they were delaying the inevitable by keeping HFTF afloat. "If there were a little uptick in sales I'd be okay holding on a bit longer," Steffy said.

Steffy noted that they would have shut it down long ago if the line was anyone but Hope's. Ridge reminded Steffy that she was the one who had kept it going. "Our buyers aren't committed to the new collection. Carter's support and positivity about Hope's line won't change anything. I know that, and so do you," Steffy said.

Steffy told Ridge that she knew it seemed like she was always on Hope's case, but she really did feel bad about cutting her line. Ridge told Steffy not to feel bad, it was just business. Steffy pointed out that the Logans would see it as an attack if they cut HFTF.

Ridge thought Brooke would understand as she'd been in the business a long time and knew it was all about the numbers. Steffy noted that a large part of Hope's identity was caught up in the line, and she would take it hard if HFTF were canceled. Steffy reiterated she didn't want to hurt Hope and asked Ridge to remind Brooke and Hope that she had given the line extra chances when Ridge didn't want to.

Ridge mentioned how Carter acted at the meeting and wondered what was up. Ridge said that Carter had the business sense to know better but had lobbied for Hope and HFTF. Steffy agreed it was strange and said it was like Carter was seeing something in Hope that they didn't.
