While Matthew Atkinson hasn't spent much time on The Bold and the Beautiful this year, he's been preparing for a very important real-life role. Atkinson and his wife, Brytnee Ratledge, are expecting their first child this fall.

In July, Atkinson and Ratledge revealed their impending parenting news with an Instagram post. Atkinson shared his wife's post featuring them both looking down at her baby bump with the words, "Our next adventure. October 2024."
Atkinson and Ratledge recently celebrated their upcoming arrival with a baby shower that seemed to be "Jack and Jill" style, as both men and women were in attendance. The actor shared some of the snaps in his Instagram stories, including one with the words, "It's a boy," revealing that he and Ratledge are going to have a son.

The Bold and the Beautiful stars together again
Courtney Hope, who once played Sally Spectra on B&B and now plays the same character on The Young and the Restless, attended the shower and was thrilled to be with her former co-stars.
"It’s a blessing when work becomes extended family, and we all watch eachother grow, get married, become parents and tackle life and other business ventures," Hope wrote alongside some photos from the shower. "From talking about bars, impulsive travel, new relationships and side gigs, and now to CPA’s, family adventures, expansive career choices and air vent covers — quite a bit has changed in the last 8 years, but we always pick up right where we left off."
Hope's pics featured other B&B stars, including Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester), Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter Walton), and Scott Clifton, (Liam Spencer).
Atkinson and Ratledge married in November of last year in Lake Tahoe. At the time, Atkinson described the day to People as, "a dream come true, spiritual, intimate, magical, and altogether lovely."
Despite Atkinson being a busy expectant dad off-screen, Thomas fans are still clamoring to see him back on-screen. The character has not appeared since early summer, when Thomas briefly returned to Los Angeles to announce his engagement to Paris Buckingham before quickly leaving town again.
