At the cliff house, Steffy sensed something was wrong with her mother. Taylor tried to deflect, but Steffy figured she knew what the matter was. Taylor insisted it was nothing, but Steffy wondered if it was a guy Taylor might be seeing.

Taylor became somewhat confused, and Steffy remarked that the vibrant Taylor had a lot of life ahead of her. Taylor said there was no special man, and she didn’t need a relationship. She said she had her kids and grandkids, and she was thankful for them every moment.

Steffy felt guilty about pushing Taylor to stay in town. She worried she was holding Taylor back. Taylor insisted she wanted to be there, but Steffy said she was dampening Taylor’s nomadic spirit and preventing Taylor from living her life. Taylor replied that she was living her life, soaking it up while she could. Steffy stated that the family needed Taylor, but so did her patients.

Taylor responded that she was seeing her patients remotely for as long as it would work. Steffy didn’t want to stop Taylor from doing what she loved. Taylor insisted that being with her family was what she loved most. Steffy shared how much Taylor’s kids looked up to her and said she didn’t know where she’d be without her mother. Steffy loved that she could lean on Taylor until she was old and gray. She said Taylor had taught her to be strong and brave.

Steffy hoped Taylor didn’t mind Steffy hugging her every day. Steffy gushed over her mother, sobbing that she loved Taylor and would never stop needing her. Taylor replied that she needed Steffy, too—more than Steffy could know. They hugged each other.

In Li’s office, Li thought about her earlier conversation regarding Taylor’s condition. Finn arrived for a patient consult and appreciated his mother’s advice. He noticed she had something on her mind. Li wouldn’t talk about it. Finn guessed it was about his father, but Li hadn’t taken Jack’s calls in weeks. Finn offered to help with what was weighing on Li. Wishing he could, Li admitted she was very concerned.

Li remained evasive, saying Finn had enough to worry about. Finn said she couldn’t deal with everything on her own. Li admitted it was about a patient with a complicated case. Normally, Li would welcome his input, but she couldn’t in this case because the patient wanted no one—not even family—to know about the condition. Li conveyed that the prognosis wasn’t good, and she had referred the patient for a second opinion.

Li flashed back to her conversation with Taylor. Finn said Li normally didn’t let her emotions get involved. Li replied that it was an emotional situation and uncharted territory. Finn asked why the patient wanted to keep it secret. Li said the patient had her reasons. He remarked that it would be lonely for the patient, but Li said it didn’t have to be. Li had advised the patient against isolation when facing such a challenge. Li hadn’t gotten through to the patient but was determined to keep trying.

Finn figured Li really cared about the patient. He said they were human, after all, and there wasn’t much more Li could do if the patient wanted to keep the secret. Li asked if he’d want to know if it was his family. Finn affirmed that he would and said he’d feel devastated, but he reminded his mother that she couldn’t force it. He told her it was okay to feel sad and powerless, saying the job got to him, too.

Li said she had advised the patient to reconsider as the condition progressed. Finn noted that Li seemed close to the patient. Li revealed that the patient was a grandmother, like her.

In Eric’s office, Brooke and Ridge flirted as he asked her to try on one of his latest bedroom designs. She wanted to do it at home, but he insisted she had to try it on for everyone. He wondered how he’d gotten so lucky with Brooke, still as beautiful as the day they’d met. In his mind, they were in a good place: the family was thriving, and the business was booming.

Brooke said Steffy’s ordeal with Luna was a good reminder not to take things for granted. Brooke and Ridge thought it was good that Taylor and Steffy would spend time together, and Ridge said Taylor being in town was the best decision she had made. Ridge wanted peace, health, and prosperity for the family. Brooke said they were working on that part.

Ridge recalled that Brooke and Taylor had once been close friends. They had shared most meals together, and Ridge joked that they’d even had matching pajamas. Brooke recalled that their friendship had ended, though not because of him. He admitted he hadn’t made it easy, but he figured the women could patch things up.

Brooke admitted that was the goal. She at least wanted to be cordial with Taylor. Ridge said it would be good for everyone, and Taylor might stay in town. Brooke had the feeling that Taylor needed to be around family more than ever. They talked about how happy Steffy was to have her mother back, and Ridge revealed that Steffy wanted him to talk to Taylor and make sure she stayed for a long time.

Ridge asked if Brooke minded him talking about Taylor. Brooke didn’t. She said they were one big, messy family. She was happy Taylor was home, and she didn’t think Taylor was going anywhere. Brooke hoped they could have many happy, peaceful years together.
