Taylor tells him that having apuppy will not make the problems go away. Ridge will stillbe in jail, convicted of attempted murder. She is stillalone with all her hopes and plans dashed. Thorne agreesthat the puppy will not make her problems go away. It ismeant as a distraction; not a solution. Thorne says heknows the puppy can't heal Taylor's wounds---nothingcan---but even if it only gives you comfort for a fewminutes, it will be worth it, he tells her. He just wantsto see her smile and realize there is happiness in theworld. Taylor tells him to take it back wherever he got it.As Thorne is leaving, she changes her mind and tells him thepuppy can stay for now. But you are in charge of housetraining, she tells Thorne.

Brooke tells Grant he was wrong to lie, but she hasaccepted that he thought he was doing it for the rightreasons. I was wrong to be so angry at you and to throw youout, she tells him. Grant admits that he has made mistakesand he tells her that it takes a strong person to do whatRidge did. I admire him for that, he tells Brooke, and heunderstand if she loves him more than ever for what he isdoing. As Grant turns to leave, Brooke tells him to stay. She tells him that she still wants to make the marriagework; she needs her family to be whole for Rick.

Alone in his cell, Ridge reads the letter from Taylor."You are in your jail cell as you read this, and I am inmine, as I write it," the letter begins. I know you won'tunderstand that, the letter continues, and that is why I hadto write it. You tell me to forget you, my feelings for youand the dreams we had, but they are the walls to my prisonand they are just as real and unbreakable as the bars ofyour cell is to you. You bars trap your body while minetrap my heart and my mind. There is no escape. Wherever Igo, what ever I do, I will never be free because I can'thave you. The worse part is that I don't know why this ishappening. You say you love me but you hurt me more thanany enemy ever could. How could you do it? I have beenwracking my brain trying to come up with some explanation. The only answer I can come up with is that you don't loveme, you never did, and that is the cruelest punishment ofall.

Ridge closes the letter. You are so wrong, Taylor, sowrong. If you only knew. Taylor is left crying.
