The Bold and the Beautiful's Sheila Carter is dead for now, but nobody really believes that is true -- with good reason.
While The Bold and the Beautiful's Sheila Carter is not quite a cat with nine lives, she certainly is getting there. Reports of her death have been greatly exaggerated several times before and could be greatly exaggerated now. The character has a way of getting herself out of tricky situations to always rise again. Take a trip down memory lane for every time a CBS soap character thought they were finally free of one of daytime's greatest villainesses.

Sheila started her CBS soap tenure on The Young and the Restless back in 1990, when she debuted as a supposedly mild-mannered nurse who managed to seduce Dr. Scott Grainger, Lauren Fenmore's husband. When Lauren and Sheila became pregnant at the same time, Lauren kept the news a secret, so Scott ended up with Sheila. However, Sheila lost her baby and kidnapped Lauren's son to pass off as her own. She replaced him with another black-market baby, who eventually died.
When Lauren learned the truth, Sheila lost it and kept both Lauren and her own mother hostage in a remote cabin. As Lauren and Sheila struggled, a lantern fell and ignited a fire. Sheila was thought to have perished in the blaze, but she later showed up in Los Angeles and on The Bold and the Beautiful.
More than a decade later, Sheila returned to Genoa City, determined to wreak havoc on Lauren's life once again. After teaming up with Gloria's ex-husband and Kevin's dad, Tom Fisher, she got her partner in crime to kidnap Lauren and hold her captive in a bomb shelter. Eventually, Lauren convinced Tom that Sheila was not on his side, so they tried to turn the tables on Sheila.
After a series of unfortunate events, the shelter caved in. While Paul was able to rescue Lauren, Sheila's body was never found in the rubble, leaving characters to wonder if she was dead or had just escaped.
This is where things get unbelievably strange. After the shelter explosion, Sheila found a plastic surgeon who was willing to make her look like a completely different person. That person was Phyllis Summers. For months, Sheila walked around Genoa City freely while people really believed she was Phyllis. She was even played by Michelle Stafford at this point rather than Kimberlin Brown.
When Lauren was faced with figuring out who the real Phyllis was, she was easily able to solve the mystery when Sheila tried to use baby Summer as a human shield against Lauren. There was no way that Phyllis would risk her daughter's life, so Lauren shot the real Sheila and believed she was dead. Of course, she was not.
In 2017, Sheila turned up alive and well in Los Angeles again and didn't seem to want to cause trouble for a change. After some sparring with Katie Logan, she took a job as a server at Il Giardino, and we didn't really hear from her again until 2021, when she popped up at Steffy and Finn's wedding, announcing that she was his biological mother, therefore making her Steffy's dreaded mother-in-law.
By 2022, an enraged Sheila had shot Finn and Steffy, leaving them for dead. Once the truth came out, Sheila managed to escape town, but cops found her toe in the woods and decided she'd been mauled to death by a bear. Of course, that wasn't true. Sheila had cut her own toe off so if the cops tested the toe, they'd know it was hers. Then, she turned up at Deacon Sharpe's place, in a wig, with nine toes, where she lingered until her arrest at the hands of Bill and Ridge.
After laying low for several months and staying away from Steffy and her family, Sheila ended up in the background of a selfie that Steffy's daughter, Kelly, took, angering Steffy. Steffy awakened the sleeping beast when she railed at Sheila for being anywhere near Kelly, prompting Sheila to break into Steffy's house later that night when Steffy was alone.
A terrified Steffy grabbed a butcher knife and plunged it into Sheila's chest, killing her. At least, we think it was Sheila's chest, because with Sheila Carter, one never knows...
