How to know if The Bold and the Beautiful's Sheila is really dead

The Bold and the Beautiful's Sheila has a defining characteristic that could give things away.

The Bold and the Beautiful's Steffy remains in a complete state of shock after plunging a butcher knife into Sheila Carter's chest. All she could think about was Sheila shooting Steffy and Finn two years ago, and this time, she knew she had to fight back.

When the paramedics pronounced Sheila dead, Steffy could hardly believe her ears. She just killed a woman who happened to be her husband's biological mother, but she was finally free of Sheila Carter for good -- or was she?

For all intents and purposes, Sheila seemed very much dead as she lay on the stretcher being wheeled out of Steffy's house, but things are not always as they appear -- especially on a soap and especially with Sheila. After all, Sheila has "died" several times since 1990, when she first debuted on The Young and the Restless as a mild-mannered nurse who turned out to be a sociopath.

It was only a little over a year ago when Steffy and company were celebrating Sheila's last presumed death. The police found evidence that she was mauled by a bear -- that evidence being a toe identified as Sheila's. Alas, it seemed Sheila cut her off her own toe in order to fake her death. Now, her nine-toe status could hold the answer to everything and spark another mystery.

Since Steffy knows how these things often go, she probably should have checked the feet of the woman lying on her floor before the paramedics arrived. She might have known right then and there that she hadn't killed Sheila but instead murdered Sheila's doppelgnger, Sugar -- the prison warden who had some extreme plastic surgery.

But since Steffy didn't do her due diligence, will someone else discover a dead body with nine toes -- or ten? Perhaps Finn and Deacon will be called to identify Sheila's body in the morgue and quickly notice all her toes are there. With Deacon being so intimate with Sheila over the last year, he would know exactly what her feet are supposed to look like.

As the camera pans their shocked faces, the scene can then fade to a giddy Sheila knowing she pulled the wool over everyone's eyes again. As she laughs maniacally, we'd know that Steffy is probably in more danger than ever before. Sheila already vowed revenge on Steffy, and she likes to keep her promises. There's no way Steffy got rid of her psycho mother-in-law that easily, right?
