ICYMI: Jacob Young joins The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead has cast soap alum Jacob Young (ex-Rick Forrester, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-J.R. Chandler, All My Children) for its 11th and final season.

Zombies have zero emotions, so it would be pretty fun to watch them mix it up with Jacob Young, who is the opposite, having shown every emotion under the sun as The Bold and the Beautiful's Rick Forrester, All My Children's J.R. Chandler, and General Hospital's Lucky Spencer. Fortunately, fans are going to get the chance to see just that, because the actor has joined AMC's primetime zombie series The Walking Dead.

The post-apocalyptic horror show -- heading into its eleventh and final season -- features a large ensemble cast of survivors trying to stay alive under the near-constant threat of attacks from zombies known as "walkers." However, with the collapse of modern civilization, these survivors must confront other human survivors who have formed groups and communities with their own sets of laws and morals, which sometimes leads to hostile conflict between them.

Character details for Young's role are being kept under wraps at this time, but Deadline reports that the actor-turned-singer's alter ego goes by the name of Deaver. He'll be making his debut in late summer, as the 24-episode eleventh season of The Walking Dead is set to premiere on Sunday, August 22.

Young took to social media about his primetime gig, sharing, "So excited and pumped about joining such a successful and long running franchise! Looking forward to sharing more with everyone."

Young made his soap opera debut on B&B, where he played Rick Forrester from 1997 to 1999. He went on to play General Hospital's Lucky from 2000 to 2003 (for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in 2002), and then took on the role of All My Children's J.R. in 2003. When AMC was canceled in 2011, Young returned to the role of B&B's Rick. He was dropped to recurring status at the CBS soap opera in 2018 and has since been pursuing a music career and other acting roles. Some of his more recent projects include Killer Vacation, The Road Home for Christmas, yA, Beacon Hill, Angel, and Prepare for Launch. He also hosts his own mental health podcast called Real Conversations with Jacob Young.
