Jack Wagner goes Dancing With the Stars

Since joining the world of soaps in 1983, Jack Wagner has seen his fair share of on-screen drama. Now, the General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful star is in for a whole new dramatic experience: he'll be ballroom dancing in the new season of Dancing With the Stars.

It's only been a few weeks since Jack Wagner (Nick Marone) was taken off contract on The Bold and the Beautiful, but the actor won't have to rest his feet or even to enjoy any time on the links. The long-time soap actor has been cast in the new season of ABC's celebrity dance reality series, Dancing With the Stars.

Though Wagner is long known to daytime viewers for his work on the soaps, Wagner has also had success in primetime, film, music, and on stage.

In 1983, Wagner landed the starring role of rocker Frisco Jones on General Hospital. He recorded several songs for the show, eventually signing with Quincy Jones's record label, Qwest, where he recorded his first hit single, "All I Need." In 1987, Jack returned to his theatrical roots, touring nationally as Tony in West Side Story and as Danny Zuko in Grease. In the early '90s, he moved to primetime television, joining the hit series Melrose Place where he spent the next five seasons both acting and directing. In 2000, Jack took the role of a lifetime in the Broadway musical Jekyll and Hyde. In March 2003, he joined The Bold and the Beautiful as Nick Marone.

In his spare time, Jack enjoys playing golf and participating in celebrity tournaments around the country. He is the National Celebrity Ambassador of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which benefits from The Jack Wagner Celebrity Golf Classic, his annual golf tournament.

Wagner will be joined in this season's cast by singing legend Gladys Knight, tennis superstar Martina Navratilova, The View's Sherri Shepherd, Little House on the Prairie's Melissa Gilbert, Green Bay Packer Donald Driver, and TV's Urkel, Jaleel White.

Last season, All My Children's JR Martinez (Brot Monroe) was crowned the winner of the 13th installment of the dance contest.
